Description

TCL

TCL used to go by TTK and was a producer of audio cassettes. They had to stop after TDK filed a claim against them. Moving ahead the name was changed and today TCL produces a lot of different electronics. The catalogue includes TVs, mobiles, ACs, appliances and more. The brand also owns Palm the famous PDA company.

The TCL C6 series

Generally known for producing budget-friendly TVs, TCL has developed a more premium line. The C6 series is designed with that in mind. The look with its near bezel-less display and slim panel is very neat especially since it is made from metal. The metal casing adds to its sleek design and premium feel.

As with all their TVs, the C6 line also makes use of the Android-based OS; allowing one to make use of the already installed apps and also to directly download more apps onto the TV. There are also a bunch of Android games one can play. This line has only two models, the variation is in the sizes; one is 55 inches and the other is 49.

Display and sound

The display quality is 4K UHD, meaning it is maxed out for all the latest content. HDR-ready so it can decode the HDR10 information as well. TCL has incorporated a few different new technologies to enhance the overall experience. Among these there is Micro Dimming, this allows the TV to analyse separate spots of the image and adjust brightness individually. Another is their Wide Colour Gamut, which enriches the colour profile by a fair margin. They have also included the Sports Mode, so matches are even more fun to watch. The viewing angles are wide so people sitting toward the sides can also see well.

Sound is powered by Harman Kardon speakers, this alone lets you know this SmartTV range is more premium. Not just that, they are using Dolby Audio to manage the compression end of these speakers. Combined these two create a very dynamic soundscape. With Smart Volume the TV is able to level out the volume between different channels, keeping one at a good level.

Other features

The C6 series is built with Chromecast, as well as their own version of it known as T-Cast. Both these allow easy sharing of screens and control of the TV from one's smartphone. Which is great when one is using apps such as YouTube, it is so much easier to be changing the songs and searching while the main screen plays what you chose. The TV's remote has a microphone so one can make use of Google Assitant directly from it and search with a voice command.

With all the needed ports and connectivity options to get one's media sorted. These include HDMI, USB, Ethernet, Cable, SPDIF, A/V in and a headphone jack. It also has WiFi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity.

Comments

This range of TVs has a premium feel with a gorgeous design and sturdy build. One can tell the brand has worked on it and put together something of quality. The display and sound are both at par with many other top brands. The price for something like this would be a lot more but as it is TCL, the price is competitive.
