Pros & Cons
Good specs for price
Cameras are average
No image stabilization for video
Realme was originally a line of smartphones that were sold under Oppo, later the brand was carved out to be independent. It is on the top 10 list of largest brands today; by sale numbers.
The reasons Realme has done well is due to its ability to give better features granted the prices it sells its models for; one such model is the C2.
The Realme C2
A budget-friendly phone from Realme and successor to the Realme C1. For the price range it is available at, it is well designed. Generally, smartphones at this price are not well thought out in terms of design, or the design is uber basic. The C2 has a thin bezel and the selfie camera is in a small notch, the back is where they have done extra work with a geometric diamond-cut pattern. With different light angles playing on it. It also offers a dedicated microSD card slot to expand storage.
Internals and OS
The Realme C2 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 SoC and has an Octa-Core processor with Cortex-A53 cores; built using the 12nm manufacturing process. The RAM and storage come in two variations, 2GB RAM with 16GB storage or 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. The C2 runs ColourOS 6, layered onto the Android 9 Pie platform. There is some bloatware that can be uninstalled to pace up the performance a bit.
Cameras on the C2
The camera setup has a two-lens combo, a 13MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera has a 5MP lens. The camera app is similar to what Realme offered in the C1, with quick toggles for HDR, Chroma Boost, Filters and flash. Consisting of other modes such as Expert, Pano, Time-lapse, Macro and Slo-Mo. The low light image quality isn't as good, but that is to be expected with a phone that is available at a very reasonable price. The main camera shoots video at 1080p and the selfie camera maxes out at 720p.
Connectivity, battery and others
The phone has Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS and FM Radio. The battery is a large 4000mAh capacity unit, with a 10W charger that is able to recharge at a decent speed. The device is dual-SIM compatible with two nano-SIM slots. Lacking a fingerprint sensor, but the Realme C2 does have facial recognition.
Given the price the Realme C2 is available at the phone has more than enough features, with decent specs to manage all the needed task running. At this price point, the specs are usually not at this level.
