Realme started with Oppo mobiles and later split, establishing itself independently in 2018 on National Youth Day in China, the 4th of May. Within a short period, it has made space among the top 10 mobile phone sellers in the world selling 4.7 million units in the second quarter of 2019. With a growth of 848% compared to the previous year. Their 2 Pro has a good build and a snappy design, the body feels sturdy and is comfortable to use.
Running the older Android 8.1 Oreo with their skin layer of ColorOS 5.2 on top. The Realme 2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 a powerful Octa-Core chip and the Adreno 512 for graphics. The built-in storage space is 128GB with 8GB RAM. The RAM is the LPDDR4X variant innovated at Samsung, this chip needs lesser voltage than the versions before. These are decent specs for the price this smartphone is available in.
As for the cameras in the Realme 2 Pro, the main camera is a dual-lens camera. With a 16MP lens and a secondary 2MP lens that works as a depth sensor. The camera app gives you multiple lighting options for the Portrait mode such as Natural Light, Film Light, Mono-Tone Light, RIM Light and Bi-Colour Light. Other modes include Time Lapse, Sticker, Pano and Expert. The Expert mode also allows you to shoot in Ultra HD mode. The selfie camera is also at 16MP and works well in good light. Both the front and back cameras work better in well-lit environments, not working as well in low light. The video abilities include 4K and full HD.
The display is a 6.3inch screen based on IPS LCD technology with capacitive touch and 16 million colours. The resolution is 1080 x 2340p, which comes to a pixel density of 409ppi. Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 has been used for the screens top layer of protection.
The Realme 2 Pro has Bluetooth, WiFi, microUSB 2.0 and USB On-The-Go. This latter function allows it to become a USB host akin to a computer and can read other devices. The sensor range is complete with the fingerprint reader also included. The battery capacity is at 3500mAh based on Li-Ion cells.
All in all a good phone that is relatively budget-friendly as well, with all the features one needs to be connected today.
