Description

Noticeable Upgrades

Lenovo Thinkpad T580 comes with improved storage and faster memory. There is also an optional GeForce MX150 GPU and a touchscreen. This is a lighter machine than its predecessors all due to improvements in internal components. Overall the outer look of the machine is the same as the previous ones.

Design & Build

The laptop comes with thick bezels that most users do not appreciate. Other than that it has a great build quality. The laptop has a scratch-resistant and durable body that is made out of hard plastic and glass-fibre reinforced plastic. There is nothing revolutionary about the design but overall it gives a nice classic look and feel.

Enhanced Security Features

T580 is integrated with some strong built-in security features. These include a vPro CPU for remote management. For extra encryption, this has a discrete Trusted Platform Module (dTPM) 2.0 chip. There is also a fingerprint reader embedded into the right palm rest. Though the fingerprint reader is a bit slow, it does work every time. For added security, the laptop comes with ThinkShutter that covers your webcam automatically when you are not using it. There is also n optional IR camera for face recognition. However, with this option enabled, the user will lose ThinkShutter and will have to cover the webcam with a sticky tack if need be.

Performance

Since Thinkpad T580 has a better RAM of 32 GB, this makes it faster than the previous variants. The keyboard is comfortable to use, making typing easy and relaxed. T580 has been termed as a beast in terms of performance due to its 8th Gen Core i7 CPU.
