Infinix S5 Lite Overview

The low price segment is huge when it comes to potential buyers and that's the reason many smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, Huawei, Infinix etc are doing their best to grab a share of it. With so much competition going on and the fast-changing customer preferences, the consumers have become increasingly demanding. The manufacturers are all racing against each other to dominate the low price segment and to gain an edge, they are including everything they can in their budget phones. These low priced phones are now equipped with quad-camera setups, huge batteries and AMOLED displays, features that were only distant dreams earlier on. Targeting the sub 10,000 PKR price segment, Infinix has come up with yet another budget smartphone, the Infinix S5 Lite that is available at affordable prices in Pakistan. Aimed at the Millenials, the S5 showcases a huge display, long-lasting battery, punch hole design and good selfie camera capabilities. Read on to know about the pluses and minuses of Infinix S5 Lite as well as its performance and features.

Infinix S5 Lite Description

Launched in October 2019, Infinix S5 Lite is the younger sibling of Infinix S5, and also its lighter version. Both differ mainly in terms of cameras. Sporting a modern-looking hole-punch display, the Lite version gives a premium look rarely seen on mid-range phones, let alone low priced models. However, a lot of features have been omitted from this phone to meet the price. So if you are someone who likes hole-punch display designs, you can ignore this phone and wait for a more advanced handset that falls in the same price bracket.

Display & Design

It features an immersive 6.6-inch display and has a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio. The S5 Lite has a good display panel with decent viewing angles but is low on brightness. The ambient light sensor is also missing in this device which means that you will be adjusting the brightness levels manually all the time. The camera hole is on the top left corner. Unlike Xiaomi that has even added USB Type C port at this price point, the Infinix S5 Lite features a micro USB port at the bottom. Infinix S5 Lite was launched in three colour options: Midnight Black, Quetzal Cyan, and Violet.

Performance & Battery

The phone's premium quality is limited to its outer look only as it doesn't perform as premium as it looks. Other companies are offering more powerful processors in this price segment whereas Infinix S5 Lite sports an old SoC, MediaTek Helio P22 and lacks power when you push it. S5 Lite can carry out regular tasks but lags and delivers glitchy performance when you load heavy apps. The 4GB RAM does a good job at quickly resuming background apps but doesn't help with the slow launching of heavy apps. Infinix S5 Lite comes with face recognition as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that are quick and responsive. Though the phone has a good battery endurance, it lacks a fast charging option which may be quite inconvenient when you want quick charge ups. The 6W charger takes ages to charge the phone which is a big downer. Pro gamers won't like this handset much as playing PUBG on this phone defaults to the low graphics preset and the battery drops rapidly.

Cameras

The S5 Lite houses a single 16 MP camera on the front that takes good selfies, perfect for social media. On the rear, the S5 Lite features a tri camera setup which is one huge difference compared to the quad-camera module on the S5. Disappointingly, the rear cameras offer only basic functionality as well as shooting modes and do not even have a night mode despite having a dedicated low-light sensor. Infinix S5 Lite also lags on the focusing front as the user would need to wait for the phone to set focus before shooting. The phone also has a mediocre dynamic range which delivers underexposed dark areas in pictures. The images lack sharpness and detail in distant objects.
