Part of the Huawei family, Honor is their brand which caters to a younger demographic with its funky designs and colours. There are a lot of options to choose from and a lot of which are budget-friendly making the smartphones more accessible.

The Honor 9X Lite

A smartphone that has a slim form factor and a mirror-finish glass back, the Honor 9X Lite is powered by the octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710F made suing the 12nm method. It has a Mali-G51 MP4 integrated into the main processor for graphics. The tasking is run by 4GB of RAM and storage is at 128GB; which can be extended via an SD card, adding on another 512GB.

For the OS, Honor has made use of Google's Android 9 Pie base. A machine learning ready system that learns the patterns of the user and increases its efficiency in reflection. Layered onto this base is the skin or user interface known as EMUI 9.1. This is from Huawei and gives users more customisation options in comparison to the bare Android OS. 

Display & camera

The display in this smartphone is based on the IPS LCD technology and is at 6.5 inches. The resolution is 1080 x 2340p, brining the pixels per inch to 396.

Honor has gone for the dual-sensor camera module for the main camera. The first and primary sensor is a 48MP f/1.8 and the secondary is 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. On the front, there is an 8MP sensor for selfies. The main camera can shoot video at 2160p with a frame rate of 30fps, while the selfie camera shoots 1080p at 30fps as well.

The camera app allows for added features such as geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and more.

Connectiviy & sensors

To stay tethered to the information sphere the Honor 9X Lite has multiple connectivity options. These include WiFi, Dual-SIM, Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass, BDS, FM Radio, Data and NFC as well. The porting option is a microUSB 2.0, an older format but still relevant. This smartphone also retains the 3.5mm audio jack.

Sensors on this smartphone include a compass, an accelerometer, a proximity sensor and a fingerprint reader that is mounted on the rear. All this combined with the OS allows for many features to be opened up to a user.

The Honor 9X Lite is packed with a 3750mAh battery. It is the Li-Polymer cell which can be made into a slimmer form factor.

This smartphone is available for a mid-range price, making it relatively accessible. The colours it was released in are Midnight Black and Emerald Green.
