Faraz Manan Price in Pakistan
Faraz Manan studied economics but found himself working with his mother Memoona Manan's fashion label Rouge in 2003. He has extensive experience in creating breathtaking bridals and formal evening wear couture pieces for both national and international clientele. His luxury prêt, lawn and bridal have a signature style that is his own and the evolution of his fashion aesthetics transcend all traditional ethnic couture available in Pakistan. He is close friends with Kareena Kapoor and has also styled global celebrities like Victoria Beckham. The popularly designer of choice for the Saudi Royal Family, Manan has a strong presence in Pakistan, India and the Middle East.
The glamourous detailing of threadwork, detailed embellishments, appliqué patches and flowing cutwork sections is a masterful vision that needs technique, layering, the sensibility for modern cutting and colour. The fusion seen in the designs is a blend of French baroque and artisanal embroidery talents of the East.
The fabrics are fine pure silks, brocade and organza that each bring their own texture and drapery to the outfit. These pieces are royal and fit for a queen, as the bridal is luxurious and generously worked on to cover each and every inch of the gown. The pastel, silver and gold base colours compliment the heavy embroidery and crystal work instead of overpowering or clashing like typical red or maroon bridals. The emphasis is on the bespoke aesthetic that showcases the strength of embroidery embellishments in the stylish trails and elegant peekaboo designs.
Crescent Lawn of 2015 was the first time Faraz Manan created a summer lawn collection for Pakistan. This was a collaboration between the designer and textile giant Crescent. It was modelled by Bollywood stars Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who has since then been on board as fulltime brand ambassadors and close friends of Mana.
The Faraz Manan clothing is for the contemporary, unconventional and stylish woman who appreciates craftsmanship, elegance and understated colour palette for her formal wear suits. The colour spectrum of the clothes are tea pink or champagne gold, dusty rose pink or an oyster beige shades with attention to detail for the embroidery work done on both front and back of the clothes. Manan wants his pieces to be transformable for east and west context, his clothes can easily be considered highly traditional in terms of handworked motifs and western in terms of cuts and silhouettes. He uses delicate material like the sheer net to create suggestion and intrigue into his traditional designs. Lenghas are converted into gowns and long kurtas become dress coats. There are stately dresses and periwinkle gowns in his aesthetic range of bridal and formalwear. He says “I’m treating them as high-waisted skirts paired with cropped blouses, my forte is fusion – a little bit of the East mixed with some of the West”.
He has won the Lux Style Awards for Best Designer for bridal and lawn collections, the Hum Style Awards and Fashion Designer of the Year at Masala Awards. He participated in the Sparkling Couture exhibition, Dubai celebrating Swarvoski’s 120th anniversary in 2015. The custom-made Swarovski crystal and gold two-piece gown he showcased sold for USD 42,000 at the time.
The flagship store in Dubai established in 2015 and since then has been catering to a wider clientele outside Pakistan. We still find the traditional chikan kari long kurtas in Manan's signature colour palette of powder pinks and silver along with more red carpet designs like short skirts and dresses.
