Description

With a base clock 3.10 GHz the Core i5 2400 comes with a TDP of 95 watts. It is based on the 32nm, Sandy Bridge architecture and has 4 cores and 4 threads. The CPU has 6MB of L3 cache dynamically allocated to each processor core but no hyper-threading. Like all i5 processors, it comes with an Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Performance

Most users find Core i5 2400 to be a good and speedy processor. It delivers smooth performance and fast speed whether you are doing intensive tasks such as editing videos or uploading large videos on Youtube. It comes with a clock speed of 3.10 GHz which is generally considered a good clock speed for heavy tasks and gaming.

Gaming

The Core i5 2400 is still being used by lots of budget gamers as it provides great graphics and good gaming performance at a much cheaper price than the newer microprocessors. If paired with the GTX 1060 3GB it gives even better performance. There might be some games where it may lag or deliver glitches such as the BF1 multiplayer but it may not be too prominent. Also, any CPU lower than i5 6600K will show glitches on BF1.

Overclocking

Since the Core i5 2400 is not an unlocked processor it can only be overclocked to some extent and doesn't offer much flexibility for heavy overclocking. Even if by any means you get to overclock it more, it can end up corrupting your data on the hard drive. For overclocking, it is better to invest in a 2500k or 3570k Intel microprocessor.
