Amongst the many products, Apple Inc. also has a line of all-in-one Macintosh desktop computers which has evolved through seven distinct types ever since its debut in August 1998. The first three forms of the Apple iMac, G3, G4 and G5 were PowerPC-based but from 2006 onwards, all Apple iMac variants were manufactured with Intel microprocessors. The Apple iMacs have evolved through various sizes, material and features, with the initial sporting a plastic body and a slot-loaded optical drive, to the next iterations moving through aluminium, unibody, slim unibody and slim unibody with Retina 5K display.

With the success of all 6 revisions, the 7th major revision of the Apple iMac was launched In October 2014 with a 27-inch "Retina 5K" display and a resolution of 5120 × 2880 pixels. This version of the iMac also includes a new processor, graphics chip, and IO, along with several new storage options. In 2017, Apple came up with a workstation-class version of the iMac, known as the "iMac Pro". It is equipped with Intel Xeon processors and standard SSD storage.

In June 2017, Apple announced a 21.5-inch iMac, with "Retina 4K" display at a resolution of 4096 × 2304 pixels, and the latest Intel 7th generation i5 processor. This version of the Apple iMac is equipped with an 8 GB RAM and up to 3.6GHz Turbo Boost. The buyers can choose between the storage capacities of 1 TB or 1TB Fusion Drive. Apple’s iMac with 4K display has Intel Core i5 quad-core processor with 3GHz or 3.4GHz clock speed. You can also choose between Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB of video RAM for graphics or a Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB of video RAM. Apple’s 27-inch iMac with the 5K display is equipped with the quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, clocked at 3.4GHz, 3.5GHz or 3.8GHz. This version of iMac has a Turbo boost of up to 4.2Ghz and comes with 8GB RAM.

Apple launched an upgraded version of the iMac in March of 2019. The upgraded iMac boasts a 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processors and Radeon Vega graphics. The new iMac can support 6-core or 8-core Intel processors, which is a first for the iMacs. According to Apple, the 21.5-inch model of Apple iMac is up to 60% faster than the previous iteration, and the 27-inch variant is up to 2.4 times faster. The new Apple iMacs come in striking colours such as Indigo, Ruby, Sage, Snow, and Graphite.
